Instruções para os visitantes do Kaunas

Você fica em frente do Castelo de Kaunas com o rio Neris em sua direita. Este castelo foi de uma enorme importância estratégica na Idade Média.

Vire à esquerda e entre na igreja de São George. Olhe ao seu redor. Ele foi fortemente danificada durante a ocupação soviética.

Deixe a igreja e vá em frente, com o rio à sua direita.

Você agora está na confluência dos rios Nemunas e Neris. Este é provavelmente o local mais simbólico em Kaunas.

Então vá ao longo da Nemunas à igreja Vytautas Magnus. É considerado o mais antigo edifício sobrevivente em Kaunas.

Vire à esquerda e vá para o edifício gótico misterioso, chamada a Casa do trovão. O nome vem de uma estátua de um deus pagão da Lituânia que foi encontrado no prédio.

Vá em frente até chegar à Praça do Município. A Câmara Municipal, uma vez que a sede do magistrado da cidade e da corte, agora é usado para fins de representação e cerimônias de casamento.

Atravesse a praça e vire à direita. Agora você deve ver a Catedral.

Visite o túmulo de um famoso poeta lituano Maironis que está no lado direito da Catedral.

Está agora na rua de Vilnius, que é a rua principal da Cidade Velha de Kaunas. Vá em frente.

Agora você chega a uma rua larga com tráfego pesado. De lá você pode ver dois lugares interessantes a partir do período entre guerras: do lado esquerdo há um pequeno parque e um prédio amarelo em que ela costumava ser a residência do Presidente da Lituânia, enquanto à direita você pode ver a rua Nemunas que costumava ser „o distrito da luz vermelha“.

Agora vá e dê um passeio no parque da Residência Presidencial.


Instructions for the visitors of Kaunas

You stand in front of the Kaunas Castle with the river Neris on your right. This castle was of a huge strategic importance in the Middle Ages.

Turn left and enter the Saint George church. Look around. It was heavily damaged during the Soviet occupation.

Leave the Church and go forward, still with the river on your right.

You are now at the confluence of the rivers Nemunas and Neris. This is probably the most symbolic place in Kaunas.

Then go along the Nemunas to the Vytautas Magnus church. It is considered to be the oldest surviving building in Kaunas.

Turn left and go to the mysterious Gothic building, called the House of Thunder. The name comes from a statue of a pagan Lithuanian god that was found in the building.

Go forward until you reach the Town Hall Square. The Town Hall, once the seat of the city’s magistrate and court, is now used for representational purposes and wedding ceremonies.

Go across the square and turn right. Now you should see the Cathedral.

Visit the tomb of a famous Lithuanian poet Maironis which is on the right side of the Cathedral.

You are now in the Vilnius street which is the main street of the Kaunas Old Town. Go forward.

Now you reach a wide street with heavy traffic. From there you can see two interesting places from the interwar period: on the left there is a small park and a yellow building in it which used to be the residence of the President of Lithuania while on the right you can see the Nemunas street which used to be the Red Light district.

Now go and take a walk in the park of the Presidential Residence.

Esate priešais Kauno pilį, jums iš dešinės – Neries upė. Ši pilis turėjo didžiulę strateginę reikšmę viduramžiais.

Pasukite į kairę ir užeikite į Švento Jurgio bažnyčią.Apsidairykite. Ji buvo stipriai apgadinta per sovietų okupaciją.

Išeikite iš bažnyčios ir eikite pirmyn taip, kad Neris vis dar būtų jums iš dešinės.

Dabar esate Nemuno ir Neries santakoje. Tai turbūt labiausiai simbolinė vieta Kaune.

Tada eikite palei Nemuną iki Vytauto Didžiojo bažnyčios. Ji laikoma seniausiu išlikusiu pastatu Kaune.

Pasukite į kairę ir eikite iki paslaptingo gotikinio pastato, vadinamo Perkūno namu. Šis pavadinimas kilęs iš pagoniško lietuvių dievo statulėlės, rastos šiame pastate.

Eikite tiesiai kol pasieksite Rotušės aikštę. Rotušė, anksčiau miesto savivaldos ir teismo būstinė, dabar naudojama reprezentacinėms reikmėmsbei vestuvių ceremonijoms.

Pereikite aikštę ir pasukite į dešinę. Dabar turėtumėte matyti Katedrą.

Aplankykite garsaus lietuvių poeto Maironio kapą, kuris yra prie dešiniosios Katedros sienos.

Dabar esate Vilniaus gatvėje, kuri yra pagrindinė Kauno Senamiesčio gatvė. Eikite tiesiai.

Dabar pasiekiate plačią gatvę, kurioje intensyvus eismas. Iš čia galite matyti dvi įdomias vietas iš tarpukrio: kairėje yra mažas parkas ir geltonas pastatas, kuriame buvo Lietuvos Prezidento rezidencija, tuo tarpu dešinėje matote Nemuno gatvę, kurioje buvo Raudonųjų žibintų kvartalas.

Dabar eikite pasivakščioti į Prezidentūros parką.
