Climb the stairs of the hill and make a sun out of stones close to the small red house. Now go downstairs and keep on going straight ahead till the end of the alley. Você agora está na confluência dos rios Nemunas e Neris. Este é provavelmente o local mais simbólico em Kaunas.

Então vá ao longo da Nemunas à igreja Vytautas Magnus. É considerado o mais antigo edifício sobrevivente em Kaunas.

Vire à esquerda e vá para o edifício gótico misterioso, chamada a Casa do trovão. O nome vem de uma estátua de um deus pagão da Lituânia que foi encontrado no prédio.

Instructions for the visitors of Kaunas

You stand in front of the Kaunas Castle with the river Neris on your right. This castle was of a huge strategic importance in the Middle Ages.

Turn left and enter the Saint George church. Look around. It was heavily damaged during the Soviet occupation.

Leave the Church and go forward, still with the river on your right.

You are now at the confluence of the rivers Nemunas and Neris. This is probably the most symbolic place in Kaunas.

Then go along the Nemunas to the Vytautas Magnus church. It is considered to be the oldest surviving building in Kaunas.

Turn left and go to the mysterious Gothic building, called the House of Thunder. The name comes from a statue of a pagan Lithuanian god that was found in the building.

Go forward until you reach the Town Hall Square. The Town Hall, once the seat of the city’s magistrate and court, is now used for representational purposes and wedding ceremonies.

Go across the square and turn right. Now you should see the Cathedral.

Visit the tomb of a famous Lithuanian poet Maironis which is on the right side of the Cathedral.

You are now in the Vilnius street which is the main street of the Kaunas Old Town. Go forward.

Now you reach a wide street with heavy traffic. From there you can see two interesting places from the interwar period: on the left there is a small park and a yellow building in it which used to be the residence of the President of Lithuania while on the right you can see the Nemunas street which used to be the Red Light district.

Now go and take a walk in the park of the Presidential Residence.

Pasukite į kairę ir eikite iki paslaptingo gotikinio pastato, vadinamo Perkūno namu. Šis pavadinimas kilęs iš pagoniško lietuvių dievo statulėlės, rastos šiame pastate.

Eikite tiesiai kol pasieksite Rotušės aikštę. Rotušė, anksčiau miesto savivaldos ir teismo būstinė, dabar naudojama reprezentacinėms reikmėmsbei vestuvių ceremonijoms.

Pereikite aikštę ir pasukite į dešinę. Dabar turėtumėte matyti Katedrą.

Aplankykite garsaus lietuvių poeto Maironio kapą, kuris yra prie dešiniosios Katedros sienos.

Dabar esate Vilniaus gatvėje, kuri yra pagrindinė Kauno Senamiesčio gatvė. Eikite tiesiai.

Dabar pasiekiate plačią gatvę, kurioje intensyvus eismas. Iš čia galite matyti dvi įdomias vietas iš tarpukrio: kairėje yra mažas parkas ir geltonas pastatas, kuriame buvo Lietuvos Prezidento rezidencija, tuo tarpu dešinėje matote Nemuno gatvę, kurioje buvo Raudonųjų žibintų kvartalas.

Continue walking through Daukantas street till you reach the fountain and then turn right. Keep on walking through Laisves avenue till the end and make turn to the left, to the Vilnius Street. Walk this street, cross on the undercrossing and you arrive at the old town of Kaunas. Go straight through Vilnius street and don’t forget to look around, there are many old and beautiful buildings. At the end you reach Rotušės square. Go to the right side of this square and look for the building number 27. This building is the goal of you trip, because the best art gallery in Kaunas “Meno parkas” is located here.

Vão até à praça de Nepriklausomybė. Entrem na igreja que as pessoas locais chamam de Soboras. Saiam dela e sigam em frente pela rua pedonal Laisvė. Parem ao lado de teatro dramático onde fica o café Vero. Peçam qualquer bebida. Então vão por esta rua sempre em frente. Virem à esquerda onde fica o tribunal e sigam em frente por esta rua pedonal até à passagem subterrânea. Atravessem esta passagem e sigam sempre em frente. Estão na praça Rotušė. Virem à esquerda e parem ao lado da igreja Vytautas Didysis. Desçam à margem do río Nemumas e sentem-se no anfiteatro. Subam as escadas, virem á esquerda e vão em frente. Parem onde vêem a confluência dos ríos Nemunas e Neris e disfrutem desta paisagem.
